Christmas Is Coming, The Goose Is Getting Fat

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat and it’s time to start planning your Christmas dinner! Whilst children are getting busy writing their Christmas lists and dreaming of their exciting new presents – you are thinking of the seemingly endless shopping list gathering in your mind. Christmas tree, decorations (unless you can salvage the old faithfuls from the previous year – we all have that box in the loft somewhere!), presents to buy, cards to post, but most importantly of all, the food for Christmas dinner! After present opening at the crack of dawn, Christmas dinner is the next big event of the day!

Of course, the traditional choice is Roast Turkey with all the trimmings for the big day, but there are so many other great options to choose from, where you can really show off your cooking skills to all the family and also get creative!

We have a great selection of game meat here for you, with a few new additions added to the mix. Goose, Duck and Mallard are tasty alternatives to turkey – with rich, juicy meat packed full of flavour. Try this hearty, spiced Roast Goose recipe from Jamie Oliver, bursting with different flavours and definitely something different for the day. If you are having Goose (or any meat for that matter) you can’t possibly forget the goose fat for extra crispy and delicious roast potatoes. If you fancy Duck instead, try this Honey-roasted recipe full of flavours and ready in just an hour!

Perhaps you can’t quite decide which meat to choose for Christmas Day, so why not have a combination of them all together with either our three or four breast roulade! Our three breast roulade offers a strong combination of Turkey, Duck and Pheasant wonderfully covered in streaky bacon for tons of extra flavour. The four breast roulade includes Turkey, Duck and Pheasant with the addition of Goose, all wrapped in streaky bacon. The classic Turkey combined with the gamey flavour of the Duck, Pheasant and Goose all beautifully wrapped in bacon creates the perfect combination of flavours and textures. Convenient, easy to cook and easy to carve, this is a great option for Christmas Day!
