Cooking for a crowd? Tips for hosting over Christmas

Christmas is all about parties, dinners, celebrating the festivities and togetherness with your nearest and dearest. It’s about taking a break from work, being surrounded by friends and family, and creating happiness and memories together.

Will you be hosting dinners or gatherings over the festive period? However you do Christmas, here are some simple tips for planning ahead so you can do more relaxing and less hosting.

Get ahead

If you are planning on having a get-together, get the invites out as soon as possible. This will give you time to prepare exactly what you need, as well as preparing in advance to save time on the day.

Prepare your home

Depending on the size of your house / kitchen / entertaining area, make sure you prepare everything beforehand. Bring out the extra chairs, clear space and de-clutter. It’s a great time of year to give away what you don’t use anymore to a new home.

No fuss freeze

Now is a good time to clear the freezer out and use up all those half eaten, leftover vegetables. Cook a selection of dishes and freeze them in disposable trays. This is perfect for those days in between, to take over to friends, or to whip out the freezer if unexpected guests arrive. Just defrost, throw the tray away, and serve up freshly cooked, homemade chilli, tagines or stews. No cooking, no washing up, no fuss!
