What to eat while watching Wimbledon

What to eat while watching Wimbledon? It’s that time of year again when we are glued to our TV for two exciting weeks of Wimbledon – the oldest tennis tournament in the world.

Whilst we sit on the edge of our seats watching back to back matches, what will we be eating? Traditionally, the Wimbledon menu consists of delightfully British classics, some of the most iconic being Strawberries and cream, Afternoon Tea, and Fish and Chips.

If you are planning on tuning in this week or next, or holding a Wimbledon party, here are some easy, Wimbledon-inspired nibbles and recipes to satisfy your appetite.

Homemade Pies, Pasties and Pastries

We have a huge selection of our famous Rooks pies and pastries, ready to bake, from sausage rolls to our new chicken and garlic wellington. We also have sweet treats such as apple and custard turnovers or just plain apple, as well as our new family pies. All the classic flavours and double the size!

Picnic Bites

Whether you are watching at home, on the big screen around various locations in London, or perhaps you are braving the queue for tickets, our picnic range is the perfect answer to quick, fuss-free snacks. We have all the picnic favourites such as scotch eggs, coleslaw and potato salad, as well as a selection of pre-cooked choices; pork pies, sausage rolls, chicken and ham pie, as well as pre-cooked chicken pieces, quiches and samosas. View the full range here.

Another Wimbledon classic is Afternoon tea which of course means sandwiches, however as we love meat, here are some recipes to try if you are after something a little bit more substantial. Try Gordon Ramsay’s triple-decker steak sandwich with our skirt of beef. This sandwich requires a little more time and effort than your average sandwich, but with this array of flavours, it will be more than worth it! For something a little lighter and ready in just 15 minutes, try these open Paprika chicken ciabattas or a tasty chicken Caesar sandwich with boneless chicken breasts and ready in less than 30 minutes! Of course you can’t forget the strawberries and cream for afters, and a glass or two of Pimm’s!
